On October 10, on the 5992 tower of ±1100 kV Jiquan Pole I line in Suncun Town, Fanchang District, Wuhu City, Anhui province, power workers are installing the first set of ±1100 kV DC line type arrester. Jiquan ±1100 kV UHV direct current transmission project is the national "west to east power transmission" strategic key project, but also the world's highest voltage level, the largest transmission capacity, the longest transmission distance, the highest technical level of UHV transmission project. In the summer when the load is the highest, lightning activities are frequent, which is easy to cause line tripping and affect the stability of the entire power grid. The world's first ±1100 kV line arrester jointly developed by State Grid Anhui Electric Power Co., LTD., Tsinghua University, China Electric Power Research Institute and State Grid Electric Power Research Institute, was officially put into operation in Fanchang District, Wuhu City on the morning of October 10 after nearly four days of installation and commissioning. The lightning arrester can effectively solve the problems of "power artery" lightning trip, lightning wave intrusion resulting in commutation failure of converter station, improve the lightning protection level of power supply line, ensure transmission safety, and promote economic development.
